Safety & Compliance

Your safety is non-negotiable. Every captain, every vessel, and every trip meets rigorous standards before you ever step aboard.

Credential-Verified Captains

Every suggested captain on Playpen Chicago holds a valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential, verified through the National Maritime Center. We never allow unverified operators on the platform.

Our 4-Step Captain Verification Process

1

MMC Upload

Captains submit their USCG Merchant Mariner Credential documentation through our secure platform.

2

Credential Verification

We verify each credential through the National Maritime Center, confirming validity and endorsements.

3

Boat-Specific Authorization

Captains are authorized for specific vessels based on their credential endorsements and demonstrated experience.

4

Ongoing Monitoring

Credentials are monitored for expiration and renewal. Captains are removed from active listings if their credential lapses.

Vessel Compliance

Before any vessel appears on Playpen Chicago, it must pass our compliance review.

Insurance Verification

Every vessel on the platform must carry active marine liability insurance meeting our minimum coverage requirements.

Permit Verification

We confirm that each vessel holds the required permits for commercial charter operations in Illinois waters.

Safety Equipment Attestation

Vessel owners attest that all USCG-required safety equipment is aboard and in working condition before each charter season.
